Submission Accomplished

Having just submitted my very first manuscript, I look back on the year that has passed since I wrote it. Statistically speaking, it is nearly a given that a rejection letter will soon be in my mailbox. Knowing that, what is this great fear of submitting? The worst that can happen is what is already expected. Logic says that the very best published authors began with rejection and that rejection is part of the journey to become published. Even so, it was with great difficulty that I finally gained the courage required to place that small piece of myself into the mailbox. Bolstered by the encouragement of friends and family, I did it. And it felt great! What a weight was lifted as I took the final step toward a long-held goal. Whether publishing is just around the corner or years away, I feel I have reached a milestone.
